Celebrating Women’s History Month with Kimberly Guzman, Owner of Riverview Kennels

March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the achievements and contributions of women across industries. At Riverview Kennels, we are proud to celebrate our very own Kimberly Guzman, a dedicated entrepreneur, animal lover, and business leader who has brought new energy and innovation to our beloved pet care facility.

A Journey of Entrepreneurship, Education, and Passion

Emily & Hannah designing, creating, and packaging designer mugs

Kimberly’s path to Riverview Kennels has been one of dedication, creativity, and a deep love for both animals and people. With a diverse career spanning multiple industries, she eventually transitioned into homeschooling, where she not only educated her two daughters, Emily and Hannah, but also helped them develop entrepreneurial skills.

Together, they launched Meant to Be Collective, an online business selling custom mugs across the United States. Starting this venture when her daughters were just 10 and 12 years old, Kimberly nurtured their business sense while reinforcing the values of creativity, hard work, and teamwork—principles she now brings to Riverview Kennels.

A Lifelong Love for Animals

Animals have always played a significant role in Kimberly’s life. She grew up riding and caring for horses, even leading guided trail rides for children in Huntington Beach, California. Today, she shares her home with several beloved pets, including her French Bulldog, Rufus, Jak, a rescue mix, and her toy Australian Shepherd, Ember. She enjoys the rewarding work of providing the best care possible for the animals entrusted to Riverview Kennels.

Her passion for animals extends beyond personal experience—she has pursued professional training and certification to ensure Riverview Kennels upholds the highest standards of pet care. She currently holds Canine Pet Care Provider & Specialist certifications and Feline Pet Care Provider & Specialist certifications from the International Boarding & Pet Services Association (IBPSA). She and her whole team are Pet CPR Certified through Oregon CPR. She is also certified in Feline Safe Handling and holds an Infectious Disease certification. She is actively working toward becoming a fully Certified Professional Animal Care Provider through the Professional Animal Care Certification Council (PACCC).

Building a Family Business with Community in Mind

Kimberly and her husband, Michael Guzman, moved to Bandon, Oregon, with a clear vision: to continue the legacy of Riverview Kennels while enhancing the care and services available to pet owners in Coos & Curry Counties. Together, they run the business alongside their daughters, extended family, and staff team— creating a truly family-centered approach.

At the heart of the business, Kimberly leads customer service, ensuring that every pet and owner who walks through the doors feels valued and cared for. She has embraced the Bandon community, eager to form new relationships with fellow pet lovers and provide an exceptional experience for every animal that stays at Riverview Kennels.

A Vision for Growth and Excellence in Pet Care

Since taking over Riverview Kennels in April of 2022, Kimberly has worked tirelessly to maintain the exceptional reputation of the facility while bringing in fresh ideas. Her commitment to high-quality pet care, continuous education, and community engagement ensures that Riverview Kennels remains a trusted name in boarding and daycare services.

By fostering an environment where animals feel safe and loved, Kimberly and her team are building more than just a business—they are creating a second home for the pets in their care.

Women in Business: Inspiring the Next Generation

As a business owner, mother, and leader, Kimberly embodies the spirit of Women’s History Month. She is a shining example of how women can balance entrepreneurship, family, and personal growth while making a meaningful impact in their communities.

Her journey—from homeschooling and launching a business with her daughters to leading Bandon’s premier pet care facility—serves as an inspiration to women who dream of starting their own businesses or pursuing careers in industries they are passionate about.
