How We Clean Our Dog Boarding Facility To Ensure Safety

Have you ever wondered how we clean our dog kennel in order to ensure a safe and well-kept space for all our animals and employees? If you're considering dog or cat boarding at Riverview Kennels, this blog will answer all your questions about the sanitation process we undergo. Riverview Kennels adheres to the highest standards of care when it comes to looking after its customers. With a thorough daily cleaning process, you can rest assured your pet will be in good hands while they're away from home.

Breakfast & Playtime

We start each day by rotating the dogs and cats outside for a potty break and the first playtime of the day. After coming in everyone is fed breakfast according to their special instructions, feeding is logged in our system so we can monitor eating habits, and medications are administered and logged for those who require them. After breakfast, all of the dogs are moved into their outdoor runs so the inside sections can be cleaned and sanitized.

Cleaned & Refreshed Inside Runs

Every dog run or cat condo is cleaned using a disinfectant cleaner. All walls & floors are cleaned, rinsed & dried. The bedding is refreshed, the water buckets are cleaned, and personal items are stored for safekeeping. Every cot is scrubbed and dried, new fresh water is provided and all personal items are replaced. When the dogs come in from the outside runs it's like walking into a hotel room after it has been cleaned and refreshed.

Sanitized & Dried Outside Runs

Now that all of the canine guests are enjoying the cleaned & refreshed inside runs we move to sanitize and clean the outside runs. Like the inside, all walls and floors are cleaned, rinsed, and dried. All of the walkways and drains are cleared of debris- imagine the amount of hair we collect on a daily basis. Once ready, the dogs are able to access the inside and outside runs. At this point, there is usually a lot to announce to the rest of the guests by barking.

Laundry, Dishes, & Dinner Prep

All of this cleaning and drying produces a lot of laundry and dishes. Each of the breakfast dishes is washed and dried and many loads of laundry are washed, dried, and folded. This is also a time we prepare dinner for non-refrigerated meals. We store these for safekeeping until they are served later in the afternoon. The kitchen and all of the other spaces are cleaned and prepared for the next stages.

Activities, Rotations, & Playtime

While all of the above is happening different playgroups are rotating through the yards for social time and recreation. In between responsibilities we usually begin the first of our leashed forest walks, clean the yards in between potty breaks, and snap pictures for sharing on social media. It's all quite a dance of activity and our teams love the rush of it all knowing they create safe environments for the animals in their care.
